Home Education-Learning through life's lessons.

About Us.

Essex, United Kingdom
We are a home educating family and we live in Essex. We took our six year old daughter (now 10) out of school September 2005. Our son is 4 years old and will also not being going to school at any point!! This blog was originally started to talk about what we do as a home ed family but over time it has just turned into a general blog which includes our pets, our family and our everyday lives. I guess our home education journey is just us living our lives anyway. If you have any questions or comments please email me at xscrunchee@aol.com

A quick catch up.

I thought that it was about time that I popped on to let everyone know how we've been.

Well, we have been fine :-)
The children are getting on really well. The pets are all great and life is good.

Liam is now 5. I have no idea where the time goes!!!!!
He has started reading now and can type certain words on the computer. I have at no point pushed him to start reading-he has just picked up certain words by himself and shows an interest in learning new ones.
That's the beauty of autonomy :-)

Emmie is fine too. She is still into her story writing and drawing. She has made so many little books with beautiful pictures.
It is what makes her happy. She has always been very artistic and creative. She has no real interest in maths or history or geography but English and art keep her going for hours every day.
She is also a whizz on the Etch-a-sketch. She draws some amazing pictures on it which astounds me as I could never even draw a decent looking house (and still can't) lol.

I am very happy with how they are doing and it's great watching them both do the things that interest them rather than have their skills and talents quashed in order to complete 'schoool' projects which they have no interest in.

I believe that it is important that they are given the opportunity to have a well balanced education and all subjects are made available to them-however I would rather see a child happy and fantastic at one subject rather than see an unfulfilled child struggling to be average at many subjects.

We are still unable to travel due to the travel sickness (Liam) so have spent most of the winter at home or at Nanny's house which suits us all :-) Don't really enjoy being freezing cold and we spend enough time outside in the garden with the pets so we haven't missed being out and about. lol

We are going to have a go at a train journey in the next couple of months or so as if we can get about by train-it will open a lot of doors for us.
I'm a bit tired of feeling stuck at home in the nice weather and want to be able to take them to places to experience new things.

So-that's us!! I hope that you are all fine too.

Happy days :-D

New Reiki Web Site

Hi everyone :-)

Looks like I was wrong about popping back on to wish you all a lovely Christmas!! Well, I truly hope that you all did anyway and I would also like to wish you all a very happy new year :-)

I certainly don't get to keep this as up-to-date as I would like to but what with being a full time Mum home educating two children, having a house full of animals and concentrating on my reiki-I really just don't always find the time!! lol

I have a bit of sad news to share with you all. We lost Rose (Our oldest hen, 3 years) on 19th December 09.
She was unwell for a while and happily living in the house keeping nice and warm but sadly on the 19th-she died.
She is now buried in the back garden and we miss her terribly but at least she has now found peace.

While I'm here, I also wanted to tell you about a new web site that I have set up. It is VERY new and it still needs quite a bit of work done before I will be happy with it but it's half way there :-)

It is a web site about reiki healing and at the moment there is a free prize draw for a chance to win a free 24 hour session of distance reiki.
The web site can be found at www.reikifromjay.co.uk and the draw will be taking place on 21st January 2010 at 12pm.
If you decide to enter-I wish you good luck!! :-)

The children are fine-they had a great Christmas and as usual Father Christmas bought them lots of lovely toys :-)

I honestly will try to pop back soon but as you know-soon might be quite some time!! lol lol

Take care and please take a look at the web site ;-)

Special Offer On Distance Reiki Healing.

Hi all :-)
All's been fine here. The children are excited for Christmas and yesterday they bought everyone in the family a Christmas present from each of them.
Not an easy task having to look for 20 seperate gifts within their budgets but we managed :-) lol
Anyway, I wanted to pop on and give you all the Ebay link to my distance Reiki which is on special offer until 13th December.
I also have 7-14 days of distance Reiki for £4.50 in my other items.
I will definitely make sure that I pop back to wish you all a merry Christmas in the next week or two :-)
Take care and thanks for looking.

Tallulah is leaving home today

Well, good news really.
I managed to contact the breeder yesterday and she has said that she will take Tallulah back and he will end up going to a poultry auction.
So-I am thrilled that it is sorted, happy that he will end up at an auction rather than on someone's plate, grateful that I managed to get hold of the breeder and she will take him back yet I cannot help still feeling gutted that he is going.
Yesterday morning he really went to town trying to crow. It was still not a full crow but boy it was loud. I know that the miserable people round here would not tolerate hearing him for long. I just wish I didn't live here then it wouldn't have been a problem and we could have kept our much loved pet.
Anyway-I am pleased that it is all sorted and no doubt a few tears will be shed this afternoon as I put him in a box and have to say goodbye. He has been a brilliant bird and will truly be very missed by us all.
I wish for him a long and happy life wherever he may end up and I pray that he brings as much joy to his new owners as he has bought to us.
